Curator's text for the exhibition 'The Intruder's Garden' at Schrott Gallery:

“Yakub Diviš is a distinctive personality of today's art scene in Brno. His story is about the decision to dedicate his life to painting while maintaining his own autonomy and distinctiveness against the influences of great personalities and fashion trends. He is a disruptor of established orders, a painter of the left-hand practice, and a tantric of the art world. When he decides to create, he goes all in. When he feels the desire to pass on something of his art, he opens courses and dedicates himself to students. And so 'The Intruder's Garden' is created – a showcase of his journeys through the world of painting, moving from depictions of concrete things, transformed by macro-perspective into abstraction, to figures or landscapes with surrealistic elements. He seeks the limits and possibilities of oil painting technique and, since 2011, has also dedicated himself to lecturing his own art courses, opening his studio to students of unorthodox painting.”

A unique concept of authenticity verification ensuring the absolute originality of each piece.

Identification / Signatures

Currently, the art world faces a significant issue with a high volume of forgeries. I address this problem in all my works using two simple methods. I have decided to employ techniques widely used for years in forensics: fingerprints and DNA. Every piece of my art bears these two signatures on the reverse side—two small paper squares. One carries my fingerprint, the other a sample of my DNA. The authentic form of both will be published on this official website. The fingerprint is already available below; the DNA code will be added later. Should you need to verify the authenticity of any of my works in the future, particularly when purchasing from an unverified source, please contact relevant experts in the field.
